[INTER]CHANGE

[Inter] Change is a School for the Arts located on Elgin Street in Ottawa. Metaphorically, it narrates a struggle between the minority corrupt ruling class and the subdued majority that is being ruthlessly ruled. The main facade of the building has a straight and rational expression as opposed to the rest of the design, which is curvilinear and twisted, emulating political manipulation.

People visiting the building will be able to view the artists in their working space. This reflects the idea of a person being able to experience the process of making rather than just the final product, which echoes how the public is only exposed to a controlled final message from the media. The type of art in the building is mostly interactive. A celebrated forum space gestures local singers to practice self-expression.

It is centered on countering political propaganda. It manifests a hostile tension which is embedded in the expressive physical form of architecture.

The main gallery space embodied in the form of a bridge portrays a symbolic character to the design. The suspended bridge would house various interactive installations within and without.
